Our 4-week Level 2 Public Speaking Training is designed to elevate your confidence and delivery. This in-person course in London focuses on advanced techniques, combining improvisation, presence, and authentic human connection to help you engage with your audience more deeply and impactfully.

Why do this course?

At the School of Connection, our Level 2 Public Speaking Training builds on the foundation laid in Level 1, taking your understanding of public speaking and self-expression to a deeper level. This course dives further into our core principles of authenticity, vulnerability, and meaningful connection with your audience.

You’ll refine essential skills while learning more advanced techniques, such as mastering the power of pausing, cultivating presence, using storytelling to captivate your audience, and tapping into emotions to create a deeper impact.

Completion of Level 1 is recommended but not essential, as this course is designed to meet you where you are and guide you to the next stage in your public speaking journey.

In addition to the training, you will be given the opportunity to put what you’ve learned into practice by delivering a speech to a small audience, allowing you to solidify your skills in a real-world setting.

With our expert coaches, you'll continue to develop your confidence and engage your audience on a more profound level, using new tools and techniques to amplify your message and your presence.

Course Details

Week 1: The Hot Seat

We kick off by explore the power of vulnerability and its role in building trust with your audience. Stepping into the “hot seat,” you’ll face your nerves and self-doubt, gaining confidence and authenticity in the process. This exercise helps you become comfortable in your own skin while fostering genuine connections with those you speak to.

Week 2: Mastering Presence

Learn how to master the art of the pause in order to create presence and amplify your message. You’ll explore how stillness and silence can deepen emotional impact, showing courage, confidence, and conviction in your delivery. By embracing the pause, you’ll enhance both your stage presence and the way your audience connects with your message.

Week 3: The Art of Storytelling

In this session, you’ll learn how to craft and deliver compelling stories that captivate your audience. Using narrative techniques, improvisation, and a touch of playfulness, we’ll guide you through the process of creating engaging stories that take your listeners on an unforgettable journey. We’ll also incorporate clowning exercises to help free up your creativity, bring out your playful side, and make your storytelling even more dynamic.

Week 4: Emotions 2.0

Take a deeper dive into the emotional aspect of public speaking. You’ll explore how to use intention and feeling to guide your delivery, making sure the way you say something impacts your audience on an emotional level. By understanding how your words, tone, and body language shape the emotional experience of your listeners, you’ll learn to connect more deeply and leave a lasting impression.

Real-World Speaking Experience

In addition to the topics we cover each week, the second half of every class is dedicated to speech practice, ensuring you have ample opportunities to speak in front of others. During Weeks 2, 3, and 4, you’ll deliver prepared speeches based on themes from the lessons. These topics are given in advance as homework, allowing you time to reflect and craft your speech around the core techniques we’ve explored, such as pausing, presence, and emotional engagement.

Your teacher will provide individual feedback after each speech, helping you refine your delivery, identify your strengths, and work on areas for improvement.

At the end of the course, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to deliver your speech in front of a real audience. This is your chance to apply everything you’ve learned in a live setting, where you can truly test your ability to connect with others. Speaking to an audience stretches your comfort zone, giving you the invaluable experience of engaging with people in a way that feels both exciting and empowering.

Testimonials

  • Shehana Udat

“I'm so glad I did this course. I was looking for something different to the usual corporate focused public speaking course. I wanted something more human that also included the psychology of public speaking and School of Connection provided exactly that. Adam, our trainer, was amazing week on week. He was incredibly supportive and genuine and gave each of us the confidence to step out of our comfort zone.

The course was also incredibly fun! We laughed a lot as a group and towards the end we were all quite comfortable with another. I now much better equipped and confident to stand in front of a crowd and give a compelling speech. Thank you Adam and School of Connection!”

“An excellent course - I would recommend to everyone!

I was originally looking for a technical training course to refine my public speaking skills. I felt I needed to be sharper, more presentable and make better use of language to win over my audience. I am a barrister, so public speaking is what I do all day (whether to clients or in court). I attended the taster session and I was blown right out of my comfort zone when asked to take the hot seat and be "vulnerable". To be honest, I have always avoided vulnerability; not least in a public setting. When everyone in the class was doing the same thing, I quickly realised the barriers I have put up limiting my progress and, crucially, preventing my audience from seeing and understanding my true self. I was so intrigued; it was a no-brainer to attend the seven-week course.

Each week, whatever the activity, the underlying focus was vulnerability. Some weeks I tried to be clever in my speech drafting (being deliberately funny etc), but I realised that being clever had less impact on the audience than speaking the truth from deep within. It is no easy task digging deep - but it is the only way to truly connect with someone and everyone.

After the course, I could not only see and feel the drastic change in my approach to public speaking (and its impact on the audience), but I observed my fellow learners and how they overcame their own challenges and persevered. I realised it is more about how I see myself as opposed to how my audience sees me. This course is a unique experience which one will only appreciate when doing it with an open mind and an honest spirit. Should you choose to, I wish you well on this great journey of discovery.

My deepest gratitude to Adam Hanim and the team at School of Connection.”

“My colleagues recommended this course and it lived up to the hype. It really forces you to go out of your comfort zone and approach your conversations with other people from a place of vulnerability.

The course gave me a lot more confidence as well as the tools to deal with the anxiety associated with public speaking.

Rupal made sure to challenge each one of us in the areas where we needed improvement and she's done a fantastic job at guiding us throughout our journey.

I personally really enjoyed the online format as it enabled us to connect with other participants from all over the world and it saved me a lot of time and energy.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to be more confident in their public speaking.”
